Yellowcard - Light Up The Sky

August 27th, 2007 by Chris Titmus

And they’re back once again; our favourite pop-punk rockers Yellowcard have just released their sixth album Light Up the Sky. This is their tenth year in the music industry and they are still producing great music, showing their sustainability in the music industry. It takes a quality band to produce solid and consistent tracks, and Yellowcard are a perfect example of this.

The title track of the album, Light Up The Sky, is the first single to be released. It is your typical pop-punk (boy band) song. It does differ from your typical lame boy band as the members can actually play instruments.

Instrumentally, TheTakedown is a very high quality song. The strong guitar riffs and pounding drum work stand out and make this, by far, one of the strongest tracks on the album. The beginning of the song really unleashes their potential for everyone to hear. After just the first few seconds you truly get an idea of what is yet to come.

You, Me and One Spot Light takes the pace down substantially and is a much more melodic song. The vocals seem to lack the edgy rock sound that is heard in the majority of the other tracks and is possibly the weakest track on the album. With a slightly stronger track list this album would be the perfect pop-punk release.
